Game Review: Boxi
Boxi by Attila Jenei
Boxi is a puzzle game of sliding boxes. Simple enough, right? Well, the first few levels are fairly easy, but as you progress through the levels, the challenges get increasingly harder to perfect.
This game is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This game also offers tutorials which is a good idea so you can get a feel for the game before you jump right in. There are two success options: perfect, when all the boxes are removed and ice cubes are melted, and failed, if you have no more colored boxes but there is an ice cube left. As you make your way through the level, you have more colored boxes to match up. Try not to leave any boxes behind for later — plan your moves ahead of time or you will fail.
The goal of the game is to match three boxes of the same color — doesn't have to be in a straight line just as long as the edges are touching each other. To move the box, simply tap on it to make it slide. It'll slide horizontally or vertically across the board to another box or hit the wall. Of course, there are stationary obstacles in the way like rocks and ice cubes. You must melt the ice cubes (by sliding a box up next to it) in order to progress to the next level.
The graphics are good, the boxes look 3D and are bright colors and the background tiles are easy on the eyes. The drum like sound effects when the tiles are being set up and knocked off are cool. This is a fun little game and easy on the pocketbook for only $1.99. Pick it up today, you won't be disappointed. 4/5.
