Game Review: Gold Keeper
Gold Keeper by Digital Worlds
Gold Keeper ($0.99) is yet another survival game, like iDracula, and Minigore. But with a twist! In this game instead of having to defend yourself from hoards of the undead, or demons, you're the demon defending your pile of gold from a horde of humans! This, as well as the surprisingly crisp clear graphics, and medieval theme really set this game apart from it's competitors.
For me it really is quite satisfying to smash puny little humans to bits with a huge hammer, or slice them up with a giant butcher knife. The objective is to survive as long as you can, and protect your stash. If you are killed or lose all your gold, it's game over.
This simplistic game play is added to, by being able to pick up different weapons. This is available through each onslaught of peasants and knights trying to kill you, and steal your gold. You are also given a special attack meter, that when full allows for a charged up attack that will decimate all enemies on the screen (a chinese symbol will appear letting you know that your special attack is ready).
Thats pretty much all there is to it. The game offers online leader-boards.
The good: For once the evil looking guy is the good guy! Intense action, hilarious sound effects, great graphics.
The bad: Basically a clone of Minigore or iDracula.
The breakdown: This game is great for a casual game play experience. With lots to offer and great looking graphics this title is quite impressive IMO. I'm giving Gold Keeper a 4/5
