Game Review: ZombieHunter [7DA]
ZombieHunter [7DA] by StormBASIC
In this polished zombie killing game, you take on the role of the beautiful and deadly zombie-huntress Akemi. It's basically your generic zombie killfest— complete with a Resident Evil-esque S-Virus (in Resident Evil it's called the "T-Virus"). The game also reminds me of the movie Evil Dead what with the rustic cabin in the woods, and zombies rising out of the earth and all that!
Anyways… The game's control scheme is lifted directly from iDracula, with two control wheels on either side of the screen: One controls movement, while the other controls turning and firing of your weapon.
The game also offers two separate view options: third person (camera behind your character) and bird's eye view (camera above your character). Bird's eye view is definitely the best way to go, as you can see much more of the playing field than in third person view. Though the third person view makes the game's appearance superior to bird's eye, it also makes the game more challenging overall.
Throughout the game there are several different missions to keep the gamer's interest. For example, on one mission, you have to escort a zombie-bait scientist from one end of the graveyard to the other— where a building awaits for her to hide inside.
The good: This game took a lot of polish. The graphics look great, and both sound and visual effects are spot on.
The bad: Some control issues. While the behind view makes the game look better, it also makes it almost unplayable.
The breakdown: For $1.99, this game is a great deal. There are many missions to play, and aside from the control problems (can be unresponsive at crucial moments), the game delivers a lot of excitement and intense action. 4.5/5
