Game Review: Warped Space
Warped Space by Marshsmith, Inc.
In Warped Space you take orders from a disembodied brain in a jar.
Weird I know, but even weirder still is the messages it gives for your missions. For example "You can travel back in time by flying to the 80's. Go back in time to 243 Ida and fix the wheel of cheese problem".
These nonsensical and sometimes hilarious messages before your mission, really add some comedy to the game. It's nice to see another game that doesn't take it's self to seriously; but don't be fooled it can be surprisingly difficult to get to your final destination. The object of the game is to make it from your home world to another world in the solar system.
To accomplish this daunting task you slide your finger across the screen to change the trajectory of your space craft. On some levels you can use other planets gravitational pull to sling shot around them and off towards your destination. The more elongated the flight path the more points you'll score.
The game has 13 levels to play through with 4 difficulty settings to choose from. Easy, which will give you the longest prediction curve, but also the lowest scores. Medium, with normal prediction curve, and scores. Hard, with the shortest prediction curve, and higher scores. Insane, with no prediction curve and the highest scores.
This title also offers a online leader board system going form #1-110. I think it's a pretty cool feature to be able to compete with players from all around the world. The developer also has a site explaining how the game works in greater detail, and also how to get better scores. Check it out: http://marshsmith.com/warped-space/how-to-play/
The good: I really enjoyed this game and for $0.99 it's a pretty darn good deal too. The play is addictive, and the brain in the jar and different assortment of "space ships" is a nice touch.
The bad: For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get better scores till I read up on how to maximize scores on Marshsmith's web site.
The breakdown: Fun and additive game play make this one a no brainer. Pick it up today! 4.5/5
