Game Review: Tower Bloxx Deluxe 3D
Tower Bloxx Deluxe 3D by Digital Chocolate

In this stunningly 3D-rendered game, see how tall a tower you can build. The aim is simple: Blocks are dropped from the top of the screen. Time drops to make blocks stack atop each other perfectly for bonus points and more residents moving into your building. No one wants to live in a shoddy building, so the straighter your building is, the more people will want to move in.
Sounds simple right? It should be. But it's not. Maybe it's because I have no sense of timing whatsoever. Perhaps it's because I'm too impatient. For all I know, I subconsciously like crooked buildings. Whatever the reason, my cities are small, and has the population of a village, despite the sprawling urban landscape. Best of both worlds, I say— small town feel in the big city! Granted, that's not what's supposed to happen in this game, and my scores are abysmal… Still, a silver lining can be found in every cloud. The controls would be easier to use, I suppose, with someone who isn't in my predicament. After all, all you need to do is tap the screen for the block to drop.
There is a tutorial at the beginning of the game which perfectly explains how to do things, for those of you who are more hands-on learners, in a little demo version of the full game. If you drop your block and it misses the tower, never fear— you're allowed three misses. After that, your tower is completed whether you've managed to get a roof on it or not. There are four game modes: Build City, Quick Game, Party Game (play against a friend), and Time Attack (see how tall a tower you can build within forty seconds, with more time added for each perfect drop and whether or not you reach the checkpoints).

The graphics for this game are really quite beautiful. I adore the rich colors and differing designs of each of the buildings. The sound effects and music don't hinder the gaming experience, though they can be turned down or off completely in the options menu.
The downside is how long the game takes to load. I've read complaints that the game isn't very stable, but I haven't had any problems with it? Because it's such a big game, I restarted my device after downloading, and things have gone swimmingly. Then again, my patience levels never allow me to build more than three towers, so that could be why. It's also a battery drainer. Even a game of fifteen minutes lost me 5% of my battery! That's not on.
This certainly isn't the game for me. It's fun and cute for the first fifteen minutes or so, but then it starts to get tedious. However, it is on sale for only $0.99, so there's an upside. Try the lite version before you buy. 3/5
