Ancient Tribe is a real time strategy game or RTS, that takes place back in a prehistoric age. You play a benevolent God. To help your tribe prosper you can take direct control over how many warriors the tribe has, as well as tell them to go look for food and supplies. After certain goals (set amount of resources, number of people in your tribe) are met you can also upgrade your village, train different warriors, even attain new Godly powers.

There are 3 different kinds of melee warriors; villagers, berserkers, and warriors. Melee means that they fight in close with axes, and clubs. Your tribe attacks dinosaurs, and mammals to get food.

Villagers are the most basic of all the melee classes. They are not the best warriors but they don't cost any resources. Berserkers are the next step up from villagers. They have a fast and strong melee attack, and cost 500 lumber to train. Warriors are the most skilled fighters with the most hit points and best weapons. Their training costs reflect this – 1000 lumber and 1500 stone to train.

Melee is great but ranged is useful to get out of some tight spots, there are 3 types of ranged warriors, slingers, hunters, and spearmen. Slingers basically pick up rocks and throw them at enemies. They cost 250 stone to train.

Hunters have a high movement speed and long range attack. They are excellent scouts and they cost 500 lumber and stone to train. Spearmen have the longest attack range of all, and the most powerful attack. They cost 1500 lumber and 1000 stone to train.

Last but not least there is the support class, and yep you guessed it there are 3 of these as well! You have shamans, witch doctors, and mystics. Shaman's support other warriors by increasing nearby units regeneration rate by 10% and cost 2000 lumber and stone to train. Witch doctors increase nearby units movement speed by 10% and cost the same as Shaman's to train. Mystics increase nearby units attack damage by 10% and cost the same amount as Witch doctors to train.

You can upgrade your village once you meet the required amount of resources, and villagers. It's a good idea to do this because it will increase the size of your hunting party and also the number of God powers by 1.

Mounts

Mounts

You can get new god powers by sacrificing villagers, and expending resources. The earthquake power stuns all enemies in the effected area for 6 seconds and costs 4000 lumber and stone as well as 400 villagers to train.

Thunder causes damage to all enemies in the effected area and costs 2500 lumber and stone as well as 250 villagers to train. Storm wind increases your units movement speed when cast and costs 1500 lumber and stone as well as 150 villagers to train.

Healing rain heals your people in the area and costs 1000 lumber and stone to train as well as 100 villagers. Trap is the 1 God power that you start the game with and it will lure the nearest beast in and stun it for 6 seconds, which can be really useful for getting your warriors mounts.

Mounts not only increase movement speed but also increase the units health and damage. So it's a wise choice to try and get all your units mounts. Any beast can become a mount.

The good: Great RTS game play, graphics, sounds, and music. Interesting and fun game play, and a lot of options.

The bad: Controls are a little bit flaky.

The breakdown: I got this game for $1.99 (it's on sale right now) and am very surprised at both the great game play and value this RTS title offers. Future updates promise more classes, a hero class, god powers, and multiplayer! Great game highly recommended. 5/5
