Game Review: iZombie Death March
iZombie Death March by Sonic BOOM, Inc.
In iZombie Death March, your goal is the same as in almost any other zombie game.
Survive.
The game offers a interesting story line, and all the brutal, horror movie like violence you've come to expect from a zombie game.
This title offers 6 levels of zombie killing joy. It comes complete with head shots, dismemberments and more blood than you can handle. The sound effects and lighting also add a lot to the ambiance of this creepy title.
There are several different "monsters" as well; you have your zombies, flying skulls (that explode when hit), demons (with chainsaws!), demonic dogs, and my personal favorite – Mama!
All monsters take a tap to kill. If you tap their heads, you'll get a head shot (kinda easy to do since it's a top down game) … except for Mama, who you can't kill at all. There are 4 difficulty settings to choose from: easy, normal, death wish, and nightmare (after beating all 6 levels on nightmare difficulty you gain access to cheats and … guns!)
The cheats you can get, make the game pretty interesting. Some of them include: Never-Ending Horde, Invincibility, Story Only, Grenade Launcher, Flame Thrower, and Minigun. I'm not a huge fan of cheating in games (due to how it usually makes me get bored with the game, even faster) … but some of these cheats are well worth using and add some more replay value to the game.
This title also offers a Share Location feature that allows you to see what other players battles have been won (this feature is not available, yet). This makes me wonder, multi-player? That would be really neat, I reckon.
The good: Easy tap and shoot controls, interesting story line and great lighting effects. The graphics are well done, and the sound effects are spot on.
The bad: In the bunker level, where the game is telling me to hold my iPhone flatter, and the controls for turning (literally turn the device) are a little bit unresponsive. I found myself turning my phone like a mad man trying to find the incoming undead.
The breakdown: Great zombie killing fun, with all the blood and gore that comes along with it. For $1.99 it's a damn good deal that you can really sink your teeth into.
4.5/5
