De Blob was first released as a Nintendo Wii game, and has recently been ported over to iPhones and iPods.

You play de Blob, a li'l round dude with arms and ears that runs around gathering paint balls and painting the town any color you fancy. Throughout the game are little multicolored dudes that you can rescue or who will give you missions.

Basically: you are given a goal to complete within a set amount of time, like say… paint ten buildings within 4 minutes. The more buildings you paint, the more points you'll gain. You can chain buildings together to create combos, such as x2 etc. The more different paint balls you run over, will not only change your color but will make de Blob bigger.

There are 4 different sizes (1-4) of blob and some buildings, such as a city hall for example. It requires a certain size and color to be painted (for extra points), and should be acquired if time is available. You can shrink de Blob down or change his color back to grey by standing in water.

There are two control modes to choose from; tilt and touch. My preference leans towards tilt controls, as I find them the easiest to use.

The colors man, the colors!

The colors man, the colors!

The good: de Blob is an interesting concept with hours of game play and strong replay value.

The bad: The first time I tried the game using tilt controls I found it difficult, but after messing around with the sensitivity I found that tilt was easier to use than the touch controls. Take the time to adjust the controls to suit you and the game is a lot more fun!

The breakdown: For being a fun puzzle game with lots of bright colors and having truly different approach, I'm giving de Blob Lite a 4/5

4 out of 5
