Game Review: Pirate Wings
Pirate Wings by Antek Studio
Pirate Wings is a racer/shooter game based off accelerometer controls. The controls are flawed, and can make you want to pull your hair out sometimes. I'm not sure why Antek Studios decided to make this game both a shooter and a racer.
It seems a little rushed to me.
Pirate Wings offers three different game modes to choose from:
Races mode with nine race tracks, three different environments, four characters (you get one to start and must win a certain amount of races to unlock others), and twelve ships to unlock. Use your lasers, mines, missiles, and boost to finish first.
Story mode is where you'll discover the mildly entertaining adventure of Raoul, a canyon pilot who allies himself with space pirates to avoid a trap by commander Burp through nineteen missions.
IGhost mode, is where you can improve your race times and compare your scores online. But in all honesty, it's not worth it to try, because the controls are intermittent, at best.
The good: It's only $1.99, otherwise I'd be more upset! Nice graphics, and sounds. This game could be good if the control issues are fixed.
The bad: The controls are pretty much useless, and the combat portion of the game feels like it was slapped on at the last minute.
The breakdown: Until the issues I mentioned above are fixed (if at all) this game is NOT worth the $1.99. 2/5
