Game Review: Glyder
Glyder by Glu
Have you ever wanted to fly? Soar through the air and feel the wind rushing by? Glyder by Glu tries and, in my opinion, delivers. Period.
In Glyder, you play Eryn and must glide around and collect crystals before moving on to the next island. To add more complexity and enjoyment to the game, there are also platforms you can land on, and thermal vents to help you gain some altitude. This game is all about the freedom of flight, so there aren't any bad guys, and you aren't restricted to a number of lives.
The game also offers speed crystals and other neat power-ups scattered through out the islands. Glyder also has an achievements to offer some more challenge to the game. The beautifully designed islands and scenery also add a lot to this impressive title.
The controls for this game, while they can take a bit to get used to at first, are very responsive once mastered. Glu has said that they will release a calibrator in an impending update. You can also play your own tunes, or listen to the in-game music.
The good: Great concept flawlessly put together, with some of the most aesthetically pleasing graphics on the iPhone to date. Awesome feel for free flight, in addition to a great casual gaming experience. The controls for this game are a big part of what makes it so great, and once you master them, the rush you get of complete control is immensely gratifying.
The bad: Slight learning curve with the controls.
The breakdown: This game is great! A must buy for any device gamer. I highly recommend this one, check it out now for $0.99 on the iTunes store. 5/5
