Game Review: Cosmic Nitro
Cosmic Nitro by Hassey Enterprises, Inc.
Cosmic Nitro is a Missile Command clone, with eye pleasing graphics, and catchy tunes! "The end of the world is nigh! Defend the world form the onslaught of an unfeeling universe!"
Cosmic Nitro offers nine stages to blast your way through, five different enemy types, apocalypse mode (never ending waves of enemies), a secret level, catchy music and sound effects, a pause and resume button, and high scores!
Cosmic Nitro was created by Phil Hassey. Hassey won the IGMF, Innovation in Game Design award, for another of his previous games — Galcon. This game is in no way shape or form anything like Galcon. In fact, this game is more of a reflex test than anything I think.
Just tap your enemies to blast 'em, and when things get too hectic, swipe across the screen to activate a shield that will wipe out everything on the screen (you get 3 shields pre level). I would like to see a landscape mode in the future for this title due to the fact that the screen can get pretty darn crowded.
The good: Great looking graphics, awesome music and sound effects that really add a lot to the experience; simple but fun!
The bad: No landscape mode, which IMO would have really been a better way to go. Controls can get sketchy when there's a lot of enemies on the screen.
The breakdown: Great game, great price at $0.99. This game is a real winner! 4/5
