Social Networking/Utilities Review: LiveJournal.app
LiveJournal.app by CopySoftware

There are apps available for every blog service out there. Being an avid LJer, the LiveJournal app was one of the first I downloaded when I got my iPod. It's been handy to have when I've got WiFi, but can't access a computer. What I really like is that the app doesn't limit posting to your own journal; you can post your entries in your communities, as well. And the app auto-saves while you type, and will restore the entry if it crashes.
You can write up your entries in either portrait or landscape views, and formatting your posts is simple. At the push of a button you can: add bold, italic, and strike-through attributes to your text; upload and post pictures that you've taken with your iPhone, or have stored in your photo library; use cuts for longer posts; link to another LJ user's journal; and even link to another website, without having to type in the HTML. You can add/edit tags for the entry and add a title.
There is an overall settings page (for post defaults, images, turning location on or off, to name a few), and a settings page specifically for your post
(where you can input location, mood, music, select a userpic and where you want to post the entry (your journal or to a community), and change/edit post security from public/friends only/private). You can also check and keep up with your private messages from your LJ inbox, too.
After pressing 'Post', a prompt comes up asking whether or not you want view your entry or full journal in Safari. I usually view the entry, just to double-check I've said what I wanted to say, and ensure I haven't made any (glaring) typos.
The app is far from perfect; it lags and crashes often. It takes a long time to write out entries, and raises the question, while typing everything out, of whether or not whatever I have to say is worth posting at all. Still, for it's flaws, it accomplishes it's purpose for me: a back-up when I need it. 3/5
