Game Accessory Preview: iControl Pad
Accessories: The iControl Pad
While surfing the net earlier today, I stumbled across this little gem: iControl Pad. It's a game controller unit (think along the lines of a classic SEGA handheld) you can set your iPhone in and uses the serial port on the back to gain access to the phone. The creators of this device also say that there is no modification required, the iControl Pad acts like a case for your iPhone
It's been in development for quite a while now, and as of right now they are working prototypes, but these are reserved for developers. This product has not been approved by Apple yet.
I am very excited about this project. A lot of iPhone games suffer due to touch screen controls. This device eliminates the need for programing just touch controls, and, in my opinion, will free up more screen space for more visibility in the game, which will be fantastic!
Here's a video of Quake being run with iControl Pad:
The final version of the iControl Pad will be black. It's white in the video because that allows them to easier see any stress areas on the case and make corrections.
