Word Warp (1.65) by MobilityWare

Word Wrap is a word game and it's a solid challenge. I'm sure hard core scrabble players will find it pretty easy… I found it was fun and a good brain push.

It's a variation on the old forming words from a set of letters trick.

There's 6 letters, a time limit, and the ability to warp the letters – in this case reorder them to come up with hopefully fresh ideas. Frustratingly, there is also a set of blanks above the selection spaces that fill in when you input a correct word.

(Ok, it's frustrating when you're struggling to come up with another word and you see all the blank spaces staring at you, mocking like, starting to giggle and laugh at your ineptitude…)

There are a lot of words available that I'd never heard of. The number of three letter words is amazing and quite generous.

(Is "eng" really a word? Wait, is the reason they call it England because it's full of engs? Who'da thunk it?)

You can adjust the time clock and that adds to the challenge. As well, to get to the next level you must get the 6 letter word correct. The game also offers links to definitions at the end of each round, and I found that both surprising (yow, that's a word? see above…) and useful.

Game play is straight forward; you touch a letter and it moves to the blank word row. If the word is correct it moves further up to the spaces above. If it's a bad guess, the letters reload under the spaces.

I specialize in bad guesses — it seems.

Unlike some games, Word Warp has a good explanation under information. The developers have been responsive to player suggestions for improvement and have kept making it better.

I enjoy this game. I give it a 4/5.
