iDracula by Chillingo Entertainment

Whilst looking through the app store recently, I found this awesome little app. To be honest I didn't expect much, but I was literally blown away by what this game delivers.

The graphics alone make this game a steal at 99 cents!

Your goal: Stay alive as long as possible! The longer you last the more enemies will appear. Some of the enemies you will have to best include werewolves, banshees, witches, and even Dracula himself!

At first you are armed with just a trusty pistol and your wits, against slow moving monsters, but as time passes the monsters will become tougher, faster, and will drop better items.

iDracula offers amazing graphics, and a great sound track. In addition there are 6 different weapons to chose from. You start with your pistol, and eventually get a rifle, crossbow, grenade launcher, mini gun, and a big freakin' gun (BFG).

There are two game modes to chose from. Survival and Rush.

In survival you start off the game running around with your pistol, poppin' monsters. After killing enough monsters you gain perks. Perks add more options to the game.

For example there is a Telikinesis perk that will pull dropped items towards you. After a certain amount of killing monsters, a mini boss will appear. Defeating it will give you an omen. Omens are used to increase your rank. When first playing the game your rank will be noob!

In the Rush game mode, you are given the mini gun and are surrounded by hordes of monsters! The goal is to kill as many of them as you can before you are eventually killed. Starting off with the second best gun in the game does help, but you have to be really quick, and clear a path to follow or your doomed to be puppy chow.

iDracula's controls are simply two wheels on both sides of the screen. The wheel on the left is for movement, while the right aims and fires your current weapon. While these wheels do take up some of the screen space, it's not really a big deal. To switch weapons you just slide across the bottom of the screen in the direction of the weapon you would like to use.

In the options menu you can hide the wheels if you like or swap sides. You can also change the volume of sound effects and music or disable the game sounds. You can also disable the auto switch weapon option or change the cursor.

The good: Superb graphics! Awesome sound effects and music! Great easy to use controls! Hours and hours of fun for 99 cents!

The bad: After playing for awhile I noticed a slight glitch where on the front page of the app, all the options were missing. Also when starting a new game after playing for awhile, it would freeze on the perks page.

The breakdown: This app is great! Aside from the slight glithces and bugs I've seen, it runs smoothly and I have yet to see any lag. This game is very well done, and obviously Chillingo put a lot of time into it, and it shows! For 99 cents I would highly recommend it! Get it while it's cheap! I'm giving iDracula a 4.5/5
4 out of 5
